Weather Report – February 2019 and Winter 2018/19
In Plymtree during February, apart from the period 4th – 10th, there was a good deal of dry weather. Although the month started on a cold note it soon became mild and at times during the second half of the month daytime temperatures were in the very mild category. The total rainfall I measured for the month was 46.2mm. The average (1981-2010) at Dunkeswell Airfield is 82.7mm. This means that we received only 56% of the Dunkeswell average. The wettest day of February was the 5th with 12.0mm. There were 9 rain days (rainfall ≥ 1mm), which compares to an average of 11.9 days for Dunkeswell. The total winter (Dec, Jan and Feb) rainfall I recorded was 228.3mm which compares to an average of 316.4mm at Dunkeswell or only 72% of average. Similar to last winter. The highest temperature I recorded during February was 16.0°C on the 27th. This was also the highest temperature of the winter. The lowest temperature for February was
-7.8°C on the 3rd and this was also the lowest temperature of the winter. The strongest wind during February occurred during the early hours of the 7th when a gust of 38.7mph was recorded. This was also the strongest wind for the winter as a whole and this strength was also recorded during the early hours of the 9th December.
