Weather Report – September 2018
The weather in Plymtree during September was predominantly dry apart from a short unsettled spell during the third week. The total rainfall I measured for the month was 46.3mm. The average (1981-2010) at Dunkeswell Airfield is 81.6mm. This means that we received 57% of the Dunkeswell average. The wettest day of the month was the 22nd (0900GMT 21st to 0900GMT 22nd) with 30.0mm. There were only 4 rain days (rainfall ≥ 1mm), which compares to an average of 10.6 days for Dunkeswell. The highest temperature I recorded during September was 24.9°C on the 1st. The lowest temperature, 0.1°C was recorded on the 25th and ground frosts were observed each night from the 24th to the 27th. The strongest wind during September occurred during the late evening of the 2nd when a gust of 48.8mph was recorded. The strongest wind recorded during the passage of Storm Ali was 38.7mph during the late morning on the 19th and 34.2mph during the early afternoon of the 21st during the passage of storm Bronagh.
