Weather Report – April 2018

In Plymtree April was a fairly un-interesting month weatherwise compared to March. The unsettled weather during March continued for the first 10 days of April. After that there was a good deal of dry weather and with only small rainfall totals being recorded. Reasonable temperatures were recorded for most of the month and there was a brief very warm spell from the 18th to the 21st. Only 1 air frost was recorded but there were some cold nights at the end of the month. The total rainfall I measured for the month was 66.3mm. The average (1981-2010) at Dunkeswell Airfield is 75.0mm. This means that we received only 88% of the Dunkeswell average. The wettest day of the month was the 9th with 16.0mm. There were 12 rain days (rainfall ≥ 1mm), which compares to an average of 11.0 days for Dunkeswell. The highest temperature I recorded during April was 26.0°C on the 19th. The lowest temperature, -1.0°C was recorded on the 5th. The strongest wind recorded by Pete Draper at Normans Green was 26.6mph on the morning of the 6th and the afternoon of the 24th.
