Weather Report – March 2017
In Plymtree the weather during March followed a similar pattern to the rest of the country with generally unsettled weather, although daily totals were generally small, and there were a few short dry spells. The total rainfall I measured for the month was 84.3mm. The average (1981-2010) at Dunkeswell Airfield is 79.9mm. This means that we received 106% of the Dunkeswell average and the first month since November 2016 when rainfall was above average. There were some wintery showers with hail on the 21st and 22nd. The wettest day of the month was the 21st with 19.5mm. There were 19 rain days (rainfall ≥ 1mm), which compares to an average of 12.7 days for Dunkeswell. The highest temperature I recorded during March was 17.6°C on the 30th. The lowest temperature, -1.7°C was recorded on the 23rd. The strongest wind during March occurred during the afternoon of the 5th when a gust of 39.6mph was recorded by Pete Draper at Normans Green. The strongest wind I recorded was also on the 5th with a gust of 25.3mph.
