Weather Report – October 2016
In Plymtree there was a good deal of dry weather during October. The total rainfall I measured for the month was 40.9mm. The average (1981-2010) at Dunkeswell Airfield is 117.6mm. This means that we received only 35% of the Dunkeswell average. The wettest day of the month was the 24th with 15.0mm. There were only 6 rain days (rainfall ≥ 1mm), which compares to an average of 14.7 days for Dunkeswell. The period from the 2nd to the 12th inclusive was completely dry. The highest temperature I recorded during October was 17.8°C on the 30th. The lowest temperature, 0.1°C, was recorded on the 22nd. Although no air frosts (temperature below 0.0°C) were recorded there were several ground frosts. The strongest wind during October occurred in the early hours of 16th when a gust of 25.1mph was recorded by Pete Draper at Normans Green.
