Weather Report – June 2016

In Plymtree the meteorological summer (Jun, Jul and Aug) began on a positive note with warm dry and sunny weather. However, this did not last and by the 10th June it had turned much more unsettled. Although it was not as warm as the first week it did remain reasonably warm. The total rainfall I measured for the month was 76.5mm. The average (1981-2010) at Dunkeswell Airfield is 66.0mm. This means that we received 116% of the Dunkeswell average, reversing the drier weather of April and May. The wettest day of the month was the 19th with 16.0mm. There were 11 rain days (rainfall ≥ 1mm), which compares to an average of 9.2 days for Dunkeswell. The highest temperature I recorded during June was 26.5°C on the 5th and the average maximum temperature was 21.7°C. The lowest temperature, 5.6°C was recorded on the 28th. The strongest wind during June occurred during the early evening of the 28th when a gust of 32.0mph was recorded by Pete Draper at Normans Green.
