Weather Report – October 2015

In Plymtree October continued with the generally drier autumn theme when compared to the summer. The total rainfall I measured for the month was 62.2mm. The average (1981-2010) at Dunkeswell Airfield is 117.6mm. This means that, like September, we received only 53% of the Dunkeswell average. The wettest day of the month was the 29th with 13.0mm. There were only 11 rain days (rainfall ≥ 1mm), which compares to an average of 14.7 days for Dunkeswell. The period 9th to the 19th was almost completely dry apart from one day (15th) when only 0.1mm was recorded. The highest temperature I recorded during October was 18.2°C on the 6th. The lowest temperature, -1.1°C was recorded on the 25th. This was the only air frost of the month but there was a ground frost on the 14th when the air temperature fell to 0.3°C. The strongest wind during October occurred in the early hours of 7th when a gust of 27.3mph was recorded by Pete Draper at Normans Green.
